Millard West jumped out to an early lead over Grand Island and took home an 8-3 victory on Thursday. The Wildcats scored on a double by Max Anderson, an error, and a single by Jackson Wright in the first inning.
After Grand Island scored one run in the top of the fourth, Millard West answered with one of their own. The Wildcats then answered when Garrett Kennedy lined out, driving in a run.
Dalton Glenn was the winning pitcher for Millard West. He allowed three hits and three runs over three and a third innings, striking out three. Corbin Hawkins threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Noah Halsey took the loss for Grand Island. He surrendered four runs on three hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one.
Millard West collected nine hits. Eric Standish and Kyan Lodice all managed multiple hits for the Wildcats. Standish went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Millard West in hits. The Wildcats tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Preston Menicucci led the way with two.
Cole Evans led Grand Island with two hits in four at bats.
