Millard West took the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over Lincoln Southwest on Saturday in the championship game of the Fran Ryan Invite. The Wildcats are still undefeated witha record of 12-0. The game was tied at five with Millard West batting in the bottom of the fifth when Jackson Meier singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as the Wildcats collected seven hits and Lincoln Southwest had five.
Lincoln Southwest fired up the offense in the second inning. An error scored one run for Lincoln Southwest.
Lincoln Southwest scored three runs in the third inning. Lincoln Southwest scored its runs on a home run by Treyton Randall.
Seth Claybourne led Millard West to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He went four innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out eight and walking zero.
Randall took the loss for Lincoln Southwest. He lasted two innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out two.
Dalton Glenn started the game for Millard West. He allowed two hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two Ryan Jungers started the game for Lincoln Southwest. He went four innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out three
Millard West hit one home run on the day. Max Anderson had a four bagger in the fifth inning.
Millard West tallied seven hits on the day. Meier and Anderson each managed multiple hits for the Wildcats. Anderson and Meier all had two hits to lead Millard West.
Luke Sartori led Lincoln Southwest with two hits in four at bats.
