The Wildcats are moving on to the Semi-Finals of the State Tournament and the ultimate goal remains a possibility with the win over Westside. Disappointed with their first match against the Warriors, the Wildcats were determined to have a better showing. It took a while, though. The Warriors proved to be a worthy opponent, equally determined for a different outcome. The Warriors pressed and actually outworked the Wildcats in the opening minutes of the match. But the Wildcats competed and finally found their rhythm in the 26th minute with a volley finish by Grace Ostergaard off a Reagan Raabe cross. Five minutes later, Raabe blasted the second goal in off the dribble. Just four minutes later, it was Ostergaard again heading in a corner kick service from Maddie Augustine. The Wildcats wasted no time in the second half with a Raabe service in the first minute, this time to a waiting Chaise Pfanstiel. Just two minutes later, it was Ostergaard to Raabe for goal #5. Just 5 minutes later, Reagan returned the favor to Ostergaard who finished the day with a hat trick and an assist. Taylor Phillips would earn a PK after being taken down hard in the box in the 18th minute. Sierra Schmidt would close out the Wildcat scoring with a nifty dribble and finish past the Warrior goalkeeper. Happy with the effort and the result, the Wildcats will celebrate today and get back to work in practice on Friday. They will meet a hungry Lincoln East team in the 1 o’clock Semi-Final on Saturday.
