You don’t get the privilege of moving on to a State Championship game without some adversity, challenges, and ultimately success. You have to find a way. Whatever route that might be, you find a way and the Wildcats did that today. Not the prettiest or most efficient game of the year by any means, but the most important. This win takes the Wildcats to what they have been seeking all year: the chance to be crowned champions.
For most of the year, the Wildcats have found the back of the net with relative ease. This game, it looked like that might be the case with a Chaise Pfanstiel finish off a Reagan Raabe thru ball just 4 minutes in. Lincoln East equalized, though, 11 minutes later off a set piece. And the game remained deadlock in score through the remainder of regulation. The Wildcats had the better of opportunities, but not necessarily the better of overall play. Halfway through the first overtime period, the Wildcats were able to finish for the game winner off a Maddie Lecuona service to Chaise Pfanstiel once again. The Wildcats held strong for the remaining minutes of overtime play to secure the trip to the Tuesday night State Championship where they will seek their 5th title since 2007.
