The Millard West Varsity Softball team’s state run came to end in the defeat against Gretna 16-13.
The Wildcats were down 0-10 when they made a huge comeback to take the lead 11-10, but couldn’t hold off the lead long enough.
Jayda Van Ackeren led things off in the circle for Wildcats. She allowed nine hits and ten runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Skyler Spreitzer and Rylee Johnson entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
Wildcats hit four home runs on the day. Richardson went deep in the fourth and seventh innings. Bacon had a long ball in the fifth inning. Delaney Richardson went yard in the third inning. They also had 17 hits. Skyler Spreitzer had 4 hits, Delaney Richard and Olivia Richardson each had 3, Jayci Reimers, Bella Bacon, and Ava Rongisch each had 2, and Emma VanBoskirk had 1.
The Wildcats ended their season 4th in state, and 22-13 for an overall record. Great Season Wildcats!
