Great performances by Nate Bauermeister (2 goals, 1 assist), Daniel Gornell (2 assists, 1 goal), Braedan Evans, Caden Tubaugh (1 goal) and GK Same Fedde (10 saves/2 PK saves) went to the wayside after the Wildcats failed to hold two separate leads. Bauermeister beat the keeper and got the scoring going in the first two minutes on a feed from Gornell into the box. The Wildcats then found themselves down 3-1 in the second half only to rally with Bauermeister returning the favor to Gornell with 25 to play. Bauermeister’s solo effort just 5 minutes later put the cats level at 3-3. Then it was Gornell again who slotted a ball back post to Sophomore Caden Tubaugh who placed home his first Varsity goal to go up 4-3. It was another defensive collapse and overall poor clearances on the evening that eventually unwound all the hard work and with 4 minutes to play yet another late goal was conceded. The Wildcats missed a PK in OT, just missed a late centering ball by Senior Braedan Evans on a great individual play and found themselves in Penalty Kicks. The Wildcats were awful in PKs going 1 for 5, despite Senior GK Sam Fedde stopping 2 the other way. The loss sends the team back to .500, still unable to figure out how to finish a game. The narrative must change in order for this team to realize the success they are so very capable of achieving…but time is eventually going to run out.
