Kolby Fahner got things rolling early in the first derby of the season vs Millard North with a dangerous ball delivered into the box off a set piece. Senior Captain Andrew Hal, who ended the evening with a brace, got on the end of the ball after a few touches and buried it to go up 1-0 at the 8 minute mark. Some sloppy play at the back 15 minutes later resulted in a ball that Senior GK Same Fedde was unable to deal with and North was right back in it. The possession and ball movement by West this game far outmatched their first performance and resulted in a beautiful second goal at the 32 minute mark. Junior Zaki Alsharif sent a long searching ball wide to Sophomore Caden Tubaugh who calmly delivered the ball to Senior Brock Schulz who had broke the back line with his run. Schulz drove to the end line taking multiple defenders with him only to calmly slot the ball back to an oncoming Fahner who delivered the finish to put West up 2-1 going into half. Senior Captain Braedan Evans found himself 1v1 in the box at the 20 minute mark and beat the defender only to be brought down. One captain earned the PK, a second rifled home the PK as Hall notched his second goal of the night and the game winner as it would turn out. A long ball bouncing ball into the box found the foot of a North forward with 8 minutes to play to make it 3-2 and the last 5 minutes more than interesting. But Fedde, who finished the night with 1 save, and the back four comprised of Cam Olson, Riley Hackbart, Daniel Zapata, Jacob Mock and appearances by Senior Trevor Green and Sophomore Nasser Nabulsi who logged his first minutes as a Wildcat worked to keep North out the rest of the match. It was a good a result on the night and points the Cats back in the right direction. The midfield was supported well by playmaker Daniel Gornell, as well as Green and Alsharif. The Wildcats return to action Thursday away at Papillion La Vista.
