Wildcats Open Season with 12-8 Win Over Westview

Millard West Softball opened the 2026 season with plenty of offense Thursday night, defeating Omaha Westview 12-8 on the road to begin the year 1-0.

Freshman Logan Urban delivered a big performance in her Wildcat debut, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and two runs scored. Urban's five RBIs led the Wildcats, while her three hits were also a team high.

Senior Violet Hanlon also provided power in the season opener, homering and driving in two runs. The other Wildcat homerun came from Callen Ahrens. Junior Allison Bergman collected two hits, drove in a run and stole a base, while junior London Garcia added two hits, including a double.

Senior Alexandra Finley crossed the plate three times to lead Millard West in runs scored. The Wildcats also showed their speed on the bases, with Bergman, Maclin Carson-Koestner and Lucy Conley each recording a stolen base.

Garcia handled the pitching duties for Millard West and finished the opener with a 3.50 ERA.

The victory continued Millard West's success against Westview. The Wildcats had won each of the previous three meetings between the programs, including a 2-0 victory last September, and Thursday's win extended that streak to four.

Millard West will have a quick turnaround as the Wildcats move into tournament play Friday. They are scheduled to face Blair at noon before taking on Elkhorn South at 4 p.m.
