OMAHA, NE — For the first time in school history, the Millard West Wildcats have clinched the Girls Division of the NSAA Cup, crowning a remarkable season of athletic and activity accomplishment.
The Wildcats secured the top of the standings in the Nebraska School Activities Association's prestigious all-sports competition, which honors overall program success across sanctioned girls sports and activities throughout the academic year. This victory marks a milestone moment not only for the 2024–2025 season but for the legacy of Millard West's athletics program.
Millard West's journey to the top of the Cup standings was a testament to consistency and depth across their girls sports teams. The Wildcats racked up points through standout performances in volleyball, softball, cross country, bowling, basketball, soccer, track and field, and more.
Key highlights included:
-
Cross-country: An undefeated season that ended with a state championship.
-
Basketball: A season concluded with a back-to-back state championship and 27-1 record.
-
Bowling: Strong performances at districts and state earned the Wildcats 50 cup points after individual and bracket play were compiled.
Their cumulative success reflects not just talent, but the resilience and dedication of student-athletes and coaches throughout the year. Although Millard West has traditionally been successful in girls sports, this year's NSAA Cup win in the girls division is a first. It underscores a broader culture of excellence taking root across the entire activities department.
"This isn't just about one team or one season—it's the result of years of work by our coaches, athletes, and community," said Activities Director Lance Smith. "We're incredibly proud of what our girls teams have accomplished and how they've represented Millard West."
With young talent returning and a deep bench of rising stars, the Wildcats look to build on this momentum. The 2025–26 school year promises continued competitiveness, but for now, Millard West can proudly celebrate a groundbreaking achievement.
Congratulations to the Wildcats, the 2025 NSAA Girls Division Cup Champions! ????
