The Wildcats faced the #2 seed, Omaha Marian, and came up short losing 2-1 in the State Quarterfinal. Marian would score their first goal in the 12th minute off a scrum in the box after a corner kick. The Wildcats fought and created some chances, but couldn't find the equalizer. Marian would score their second goal in the 11th minute of the second half.
Yet, just as they have all season, the Wildcats battled. With 10 minutes left in the second half,
Carly Mohatt slotted a ball to
Alyse Aschebrook to cut the Crusader lead in half. In those final minutes, things became a bit more chaotic and the Wildcats nearly found the equalizer with just 2 minutes left in the game.
Despite the loss, the Wildcats hold their heads high. This team showed resiliency and heart the entire year. While disappointed in the result, the way they competed is something definitely Wildcat Nation should be proud of and celebrate.
We also want to acknowledge our seniors:
Alyse Aschebrook,
Emma McGargill,
Kennedy Moore, and
Isabella Worner. These four young women were not only great players, but excellent leaders and they will be missed. However, each left a legacy and standard that will live on.
