Girls Metro Holiday tournament: Millard West survives OT in rematch against Millard North

Millard West was involved in another nail-biter Wednesday, which is just the way the Wildcats like it.

Coach Marc Kruger’s squad erased a late six-point deficit in regulation and went on to post a 67-64 overtime win over Millard North in a Metro Holiday tournament quarterfinal. It was Millard West’s fourth win this season by three points or less.

 “It was a lot like our first game against them,” Kruger said. “But I guess we’re getting used to this.”

The 6-3 Wildcats beat the 7-2 Mustangs on Dec. 21 with some late-game heroics and did the same Wednesday in the contest at Ralston Arena. Guards Chaise Pfanstiel and Taylor Farrell each had eight points in the four-minute overtime to secure the victory.

“This was a huge win for us,” Pfanstiel said. “It gives us a lot of confidence and shows that first game wasn’t a fluke.”
