Meet Recap

The Wildcats rocked a 5th place finish last week at the Metro Championships after a tough loss earlier in the week to Papillion LaVista. Doubles teams were mixed as Senior Sierra Foley was unable to compete. Mally/Stuckwisch at #1 and Nuismer/Safar at #2 both pushed to the quarter final rounds playing some of the teams’ best tennis this season but fell in tie break losses in their third sets. . All positions won their first round matches, however, and #2 singles Maia Nicholas (seeded 6th) fought hard but lost her second round match to the #3 seeded tough Marian opponent. #1 Singles Katy FREIBURGER earned the 3rd seed with her consistent tenacious play all season and held out her first to rounds to play into the second day. Having only seen her Papio opponent one time this season, Freiburger competed well against the strengths of the #2 seed but lost in the morning setting up her 3rd place hold in the afternoon. Outside at KOCH Tennis Center and with support of her teammates, Freiburger finished Metro on a high note taking out her PLVSouth match-up 6-0, 6-3 and the 5th Place finish just 2.5 points behind the 4th/Westside. The Wildcats take on Omaha Central today in a reschedule at home and are looking forward to being full strength heading to STATE Thursday and Friday.
